Counselling is about providing a confidential and boundaried space in which you can safely explore troublesome issues causing you concern or distress.
Being person-centred means Catherine has a strong belief that you are the best person to bring about the changes you seek. A ‘dynamic’ is a force that stimulates change; so put simply, the counselling relationship is designed to help you generate the changes you wish to see within yourself or life situation or to accept and manage more effectively that which you cannot change.
At Counselling Dynamics you will experience truly having a voice and having that voice heard in a genuine atmosphere where Catherine has the ability to understand and sense your thoughts and emotions responding with acceptance and respect.
In order for you to make an informed choice about whether this type of counselling is right for you and that Catherine is someone you would feel comfortable talking with, an initial, no obligation session is offered at a reduced fee.
This meeting will be an opportunity to find out how the counselling relationship works, discuss your expectations of counselling and to determine if Catherine has the appropriate skills and experience to support you with your particular issues.
You will be able to ask any questions that you have about the counselling process; two of the most commonly asked questions are answered below:
This is difficult to answer without first talking to you and getting a sense of the difficulties you are experiencing.
Counselling is usually most beneficial with weekly sessions – at least in the beginning. Each session usually lasts for one hour, but this is negotiable. You might prefer longer sessions or to meet less often. We would discuss and agree this at the first session.
Some people find just a few sessions enough to identify issues and to make the changes they seek. Others, however, find working through long established patterns of behaviour benefit from remaining in therapy for a longer period.
It is very much your choice how many sessions you have and with regular reviews we can work together to bring your counselling sessions to a satisfactory end point.
As a guide £50.00 per hour is my standard fee. There are however some concessional rates available and counselling student rates are also available on request.
Again at the initial meeting we would have the opportunity to discuss the financial details and to determine if a suitable rate can be agreed that would be manageable for you.
